
SINGAPORE, July 23 – Brunei Darussalam’s health strategy is focused on the strengthening of a comprehensive health care system based on basic health care. To improve the quality of the lives of its citizens and residents and to prevent various diseases, the health strategy also gives strong emphasis on the implementation of health promotion programs.
These were some of the measures taken by Brunei Darussalam on its effort to enhance the health status through the Ministry of Health’s Vision 2035 – Together Towards Health Citizens.
The matters were highlighted by the Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Haji Awang Adanan at the 10th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting.
Speaking on ASEAN, health challenges faced by ASEAN countries can be overcome through close cooperation based on strategies outlined in ‘ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint’.
The Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan stated the matter at the 10th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting; the 4th ASEAN +3 Meeting; and the 3rd ASEAN+China Meeting.
The meeting was held on July 22 to 23 in Singapore. Other meetings that also took place were the 4th ASEAN + 3 Meeting and the 3rd ASEAN + China Meeting.
The minister also held courtesy call with the Minister of Health of Singapore, His Excellency Khaw Boon Wan and exchanged ideas on health issues in ASEAN region and international. He also held bilateral discussion with Malaysia’s Health Minister, The Honourable Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai on health cooperation between Brunei and Malaysia as has been agreed under the Memorandum of Understanding.
