BELAIT, Tuesday, December 24 - The Personal Contact Programme organised by the Department of Information, Prime Minister’s Office through its Belait branch was aimed at shaping and encouraging the awareness of the people and residents to instil positive attitudes in line with national interests.
Earlier this morning, the delegation from the Department of Information which was led by Acting Senior Information Officer, Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah binti Yahya also as the Head of the Nationhood and Community Division organised the Personal Contact Programme for the Kampung Pandan 'B' at the residence of the Head of Village of Pandan ‘B’, Awang Morney Bin Ahmat, Mukim Kuala Belait.
 Also present at the programme was member of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Kuala Belait, who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Liang.
The Personal Contact Programme, among others, aims to provide a channel for information exchange between the government and the people in the dissemination of information and programmes as well as the development and progress of the people through the Brunei Government newspaper, Pelita Brunei.
During the programme, a number of issues were raised especially related to the provision of infrastructure, facilities, safety, environmental cleanliness and welfare as well as public welfare.
Among the information shared were excerpts from the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the relationship of the sovereign with the people which includes the economy, prosperity and development of the people and nation.
The programme also included a briefing on the use and care of the National Flag where residents and citizens of the country are encouraged to raise the flag during national celebrations and to ensure that the flag is not torn, faded or discoloured.
In addition, the residents of Kampung Pandan 'B' were also informed on Acts related to fake news, which can be quickly disseminated, especially with the existence of various applications such as WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The briefing was delivered by Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah.
So far, a total of 195 (98 percent) issues that were shared during the Personal Contact Programme for 2017/2018 session have been resolved out of the 199 issues received.
During the programme, the Department of Information’s Mobile Application ‘InfoDeptBN’ was also introduced as well as the procedure for downloading the application through the Google Playstore for Android users and the App Store for iOS users.
In addition, also shared were information such as the Pelita Brunei e-Paper, Publications, Prayer times, job vacancy advertisements and many more presented by Assistant Information Officer, Awang Mohammad Nor Amirudin bin Haji Brahim.
Also present were Information Officer, Dayang Hajah Rosidah binti Haji Ismail, and members of the MPK Kampung Pandan 'B' Committee.
