AAK: Monitor children’s involvement from negative influence

Bandar Seri Begawan, Tuesday, November 12. - The people of this country are fortunate to have a government and a society that are very caring and considerate.
However, this is not the reason for us to be ignorant and inattentive towards social and negative activities.
The matter was raised by the Acting Deputy Director of Information, Dayang Sastra Sarini binti Haji Julaini as the Chairman of the Mind Our Children Programme (AAK) for Mukim Kota Batu and Mukim Kianggeh, at Z'yan Restaurant, Mangrove Paradise Resort, Simpang 912, Kampong Sungai Belukut Jalan Kota Batu.
According to her, in the world of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 due to the technological boom, life is increasingly challenging, where ideology, influence and information can be transmitted in the blink of an eye which can influence our decisions.
Therefore, it is important for parents or guardians to be constantly vigilant on the time spent by their children; people they associate with; and identify early signs of any social or negative influences.
"The effects of drug abuse, social influences will definitely have an impact on the individuals, families, communities and the country as a whole. It will, in fact have an impact on the development of the country if the country is shackled by drug abuse and social influences," he said.
In attendance as guest of honour of the program, Member of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis as the Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Kianggeh.
The programme consists of briefing by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), presented by the Narcotics Officer, Awang Wasli bin Haji Tuah, among others explained the disadvantages of drug abuse in a society that is increasingly worrying and needs to be addressed seriously.
Meanwhile, a briefing from the Internal Security Department (ISD), was presented by Internal Security Officer, Awang Rosmee bin Hai Suhailee, among others, explained the department's duties and responsibilities, including security issues in the country under its supervision.
Meanwhile, a briefing entitled 'Keeping Your Children Safe Online', was presented by Network & System Engineer / Trainer Security +, ITPSS Sdn. Bhd., Pengiran Mohd. Farid Zulhusni bin Pengiran Aziz.
He also outlined cyber threats and crimes, including tips on using smart technology as well as parent‘s guidance on monitoring IT use among children.
The program continued with question-and-answer session with the invitees and it ended with a visit to NCB and ISD Exhibition.
The AAK Program is one of the Department of Information's annual activities in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB); Internal Security Department (ISD); and IT Protective Security Services Company (ITPSS) Sdn. Bhd.
It is held regularly throughout the country in the four districts to provide insight to the community through briefing sessions and exhibitions, especially for parents and guardians.
In addition, it is to improve and increase the awareness of parents about prevention and control of their children from drug abuse and traps as well as issues related to security in the country.
Also present was the village head, acting village head and residents of Mukim Kota Batu and Kianggeh.
