BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Thursday, Oktober 3. - The Third Graduate Civics Village Programme Of Brunei Darussalam 2019 ended with the Closing Ceremony of the programme held at the Recreation Hall, Youth Centre, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Present as the guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said who presented certificates to the participants.
Acting Deputy Director of Information, Awang Haji Shahrul Jeffri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim in his closing remarks, among others, said the programme aimed to prepare programme participants with values and moral education as well as personal development to face the ever-changing scenarios and challenges of life.
Awang Haji Shahrul Jeffri, as the Chairman of the programme, added that the youth needed to be active youth and actively 'fill' the time or day with welfare activities, increasing their competitiveness to meet the challenges of today.
He explained that towards quality youth, youths need to develop strategies for self-determination.
"Alhamdulillah, the Civic Village Programme operated since 1976 is intended to help programme participants develop this strategy. During the six-days village programme, participants have had the opportunity to participate in activities sessions such as Team Building by OBBD to enhance leadership and encourage communication with other participants to teach how working together as a team. With such a platform, the youths will be more creative in their identity," he said.
At the event, the guest of honour also presented certificates to participants who won the Best Presenter category, Dayang Ain'nul Qamarina binti Ibrahim who was part of the `Belia Peneraju Bangsa’ group which delivered their presentation entitled `Wawasan 2035’ and the Best Group Presentation category was won by `Belia Optimis’ group which delivered their presentation entitled 'Youth Entrepreneurship'.
In an interview with Pelita Brunei, Dayang Ain'nul Qamarina commented that, among others, the programme has been able to deliver the latest information on developments in Brunei Darussalam, particularly in the government sectors, as well as in the private sector.
The graduate from Asia Pacific University, Malaysia added that it was a beneficial programme and the information gained through the briefings is also useful for those in the job-seeking phase who are preparing for interviews and written tests.
According to her, the programme is a very useful platform, especially for those who have graduated or those who wish to improve themselves in terms of skills or general knowledge of Brunei Darussalam.
Also present at the event were Acting Senior Information Officer, Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah binti Awang Yahya as the Deputy Chairman of the Programme; MCYS officials, officers and staff of the Department of Information; and Members of the Third Graduate Civics Village Programme of Brunei Darussalam 2019.
