TEMBURONG, Wednesday, September 4 - A total of 23 people from Kampung Rataie, Mukim Bokok attended the two-day Informed Community Programme (PMB), which began today, at the Multipurpose Hall, Bumiputra Complex, Bangar Town, Temburong District.
 
Present as the guest of honour on the first day of the programme was Acting Deputy Director of Information, Awang Haji Shahrul Jeffri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim.
 
Also present were Acting Senior Information Officer, Head of Nationhood and Community Division, Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah binti Awang Yahya as  Chairman of the programme; Acting Chief of Rataie Village, Awang Haji Moslim bin Haji Salleh; as well as the officers and staff of the Department of Information .
 
The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, led by the  Imam of Semabat Religious Hall, Awang Moksin bin Mohd. Karim.
 
This was followed by a welcome speech  by Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah binti Awang Yahya as Programme Chairman,  who among others, said that the  programme was part of the Department of Information's mission to provide official information on government policy and purpose through  briefings, dialogue sessions and visits for the public, especially at the grassroots level to understand, support and appreciate the efforts of the government in building the nation, especially in achieving the  Brunei vision 2035.
 
She further explained that the programme would be streamlined in all four districts in line with the department's efforts towards cultivating an informed society.
 
The programme continued with the first briefing titled 'Entrepreneurship: Hydroponic Crops' by the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, presented by Assistant Agriculture Officer, Awang Tay Ching Mong.
 
The briefing touched on the introduction of hydroponics; its strengths and weaknesses; tools and instruments used as a reservoir, plant media, water, fertilizer; and related  equipments such as PH  metre and electrical conductivity  metre.
 
The second briefing was titled 'Concepts of Halal Food in Islam' from the Syariah Affairs Department, presented by Religious Officer, Hajah Noorimah  binti Haji Abd. Hamid  who touched on the Structure of the Halal Food Control Division (BKMH), the Syariah Affairs Department; details on halal food; halal food in accordance with Islamic law, namely the benefits of halal food; and the effects of consuming syubhah and illegal food  as well as the sources of halal food. Also shared were halal logos recognised by MABIMS countries and abroad.
 
Radio Television Brunei also presented a briefing titled 'Digital Broadcast Systems' delivered by  Maintenance Technician, Awang Haji Anuar bin Haji Anggas, who shared about the equipments needed to receive  RTB Digital TV broadcasts in Temburong; examples of television sets used;  An example of an installation of a Digital TV with a iDTV system ;  causes of not receiving RTB Digital TV broadcasts and places where RTB Digital TV broadcasts are available.
 
Participants  also had the opportunity to visit RZ Prisma Enterprise, RZ Prisma Farm, Kilanas-Sengkurong; Royal Brunei Catering Sdn. Bhd., Gadong; and Radio Television Brunei in Stoney Street, Bandar Seri Begawan on September 5, 2019.
