BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, May 15. - The Department of Information, Prime Minister's Office through its International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat for Sub-Committee of Information (SCI) held a Get To Know ASEAN Roadshow at Sports School.
The programme is one of the ongoing efforts by the Department of Information in injecting patriotic spirit and unity (ASEAN-ness) among students to equally appreciate ASEAN's function and aims, and at the same time strengthening the relationship between the Department of Information and the society, especially the students in Brunei Darussalam.
The roadshow which was held at the lecture hall school began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan'.
The 'Get To Know ASEAN' briefing was delivered by Awang Abdul Karim bin Hamdan, Special Duties Officer Grade II as Head of International Affairs Unit. Also present were Deputy Principal of Sports School, Dayang Hajah Nor Aisah binti Haji Mohd Salleh with 133 teachers and students of the school.
The roadshow was filled with activities to test students' minds, namely the ASEAN Quiz conducted by , Awang Haji Abdul Hanif bin Haji Abdul Rahim,Information Field Officer, followed by the presentation of prizes to ten students who successfully answered the quiz.
The briefing was held to disseminate and spread general knowledge on ASEAN to secondary school students in the country as they are youths who will inherit the continuity of the nation and thus play an important role in catalysing the country's direction.
One of the objectives of the briefing was to increase students' knowledge on ASEAN and to find out how much the students know about ASEAN as well as its role in developing its member states.
It is hoped that through such briefings will be able to instill awareness and a sense of belonging among students as one ASEAN community, in line the ASEAN Motto: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
