PMB improves knowledge, on government efforts

TEMBURONG, Tuesday, November 13. – Department of Information, Prime Minister's Office through the Temburong District Information Branch organised an 'Informed Community Programme' (known locally as the "Program Masyarakat Bermaklumat" – PMB) for Kampung Lepong Baru, Mukim Bokok, Temburong District. The programme was held at the Bumiputera Main Complex, Pekan Bangar.

The aim of the programme is to increase knowledge and assimilates development and government efforts to improve people's living standard such through briefings and visits and expect to strengthen identity and encouraging cooperation spirit in supporting the country's aspirations.

Present as guest of honour, Deputy Director of Information, Dayang Hajah Noorashidah binti Haji Aliomar.

The programme attended by 19 participants led by Acting Penghulu of Mukim Bokok, Awang Ambol Anak Bakit, who is also the Village Head of Kampung Lepong Baru.

Earlier, Chairman of PMB, Pengiran Arsul bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin in his welcoming speech explained that the programme was one of the Department of Information effort to deliver official information on government policies and intentions through briefings, dialogues and visits, so that the community, especially at the grassroots level can understand, support and appreciate government efforts in equally developing the country, especially in achieving the Brunei Vision 2035

The morning session of the programme was filled briefings. First briefing on Business Opportunities in agricultural and agrifood was delivered by officer from Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Dayang Siti Sundussiah binti Haji Abdullah Sani, followed by briefing of 'Entrepreneurship' from Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) by DARe's Business and Service Advisor, Dayang Nur Iffat Nazurah binti Abduk Razak. Meanwhile, the third briefing was from Department of Information, entitled, 'Role and Responsibility of the People and Citizens' presented by Information Officer, Dayang Ruhil Amal Faridah binti Awang Yahya.

The programme continued in the afternoon session with briefings from two agencies;  the Royal Customs and Excise Department and Department on Immigration and National Registration. The briefing on Custom Regulations from the Royal Customs and Excise Department was presented by Custom Assistant Supritendant, Awang Haji Muhammad Yusra bin Haji Yakub while Immigration Senior Officer, Legal Enforcement Division, Awang Azmi bin Haji Jumat delivered on 'Department of Immigration and National Registration's Acts and Regulations'.

The first day's programme ends with a question and answer session.

Through the briefings, participants are expected to gain experience and inspiration, as well as responding to His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's titah, during His Majesty's 72nd Birthday Celebration which emphasising the importance of exploring the agricultural sector as one of the steps towards economic growth.

The second-day programme will be continued on 21 November 2018 with the visits to government agencies and private sectors.
