TUTONG, Wednesday, April 4. - A total of 372 students Year 7, 9 and Year 10 attended the Information Youth Programme at the Gathering Hall, Muda Hashim Secondary School, Tutong.
Present as guest of honour at the programme was Head Cluster, Dayang Norasurah binti Haji Meludin.
The event started with the national anthem 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' and the patriotic song title 'Bendera Negara' sung by students from Muda Hashim Secondary School students, followed by a short video clip titled 'Kibarkan Bendera Negara Dengan Megah' and 'Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara'.
The programme continued with an animated video presentation of the National Flag Raising Procedure, followed by a briefing titled 'Our King, Appreciating the Flag and National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam' delivered by Head of Tutong Information Branch, Awang Hasanul Hidayat bin Haji Abu Bakar.
The event was also accompanied by the poem performance from the school's students and enlivened with jokes and quizzes presented by local comedian, while prizes were presented by guest of honour to 15 students who successfully answered the quiz.
The Department of Information through the Nationhood and Community Divisions is a special program for teenagers especially for school children in disseminating current information.
The objective of the programme is to reach out to teens in schools so that they are aware of current developments, as well as instilling the spirit of nationhood and social responsibility among teenagers and making students an agent in the dissemination of positive and effective information to peers.
The programme also aims to provide civic consciousness and nationhood spirit especially to teenagers towards the development of positive mind and morals, and at the same time, it is to reach out to youths and teenagers in schools through directed and guided entertainment art.
