BERAKAS, Wednesday, 7 March. - A total of 18 officers from the 47th Pakistan Navy Course organised by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Defense Academy attended a visit to Department of Information, Prime Minister's Office. The delegation was led by Cdre Malik Iftikhar Ahmed SI.
The delegation received briefing on the department presented by Information Officer, Head of Translation and Brunei Report Unit, Awang Musa bin Mohidin, followed by a video clips 'Commemorating the 65th Anniversary of Department of Information establishment' and the Information Department Mobile Application 'InfoDeptBN'.
'InfoDeptBN' app which launched in May 2017 is a mobile app that can be downloaded via Google Play for Android users and App Store for iOS users. 'InfoDeptBN' contains various information, including E-paper Pelita Brunei, prayer time, about Brunei Darussalam, location of Pelita Brunei, Brunei's diary and job vacancies.
The delegation also had the opportunity to question and answer session.
The visit, among others, aims to observe more closely on the functions, roles and challenges of the Department of Information in disseminating government official information.
The Department of Information formerly known as Information Services was established on 1 April 1952, serving as the government's tongue and ears in delivering information and news on government policies, activities and programs as well as listening to current issues beside understanding the mass media agenda in line with the department's motto, Nurturing an Informed Society '.
